Coleg Cambria is one of the UK’s largest colleges employing more than 1450 staff in over five campuses, all conveniently located in North East Wales, offering easy accessibility from within North Wales, Shropshire, Wirral, Merseyside and Cheshire.

We’re now looking for a Pastoral Coach to join us at our Northop campus. This is a permanent position, working 37 hours per week for 38 weeks per year commencing on 23 August 2018.

The Pastoral Coach is a student support role, with responsibility for supporting students in their identified groups on their learning journey to ensure that they feel safe in College, and are happy and successful. All students are allocated a Pastoral Coach who they meet with once a week for a group tutorial session, in addition to a regular one to one review meeting. In addition to using the PSE programme, Pastoral Coaches will use the College’s student monitoring tool and ensure that all students are well-tracked and supported as they progress through College.

You will have multiple groups allocated to you and may have additional sessions with learners for extra support and guidance, including one to one interviews. The rest of your time will be spent carrying out admin duties, pastoral care and one to one student support.

Educated to Degree level or with a Level 3 qualification (for identified subjects) in a relevant subject area, the successful candidate will have experience of working within a learning support environment and have a good understanding of the range of needs of learners at College. With excellent communication and interpersonal skills, you will demonstrate the ability to work with, coach and mentor learners and be able to connect with young people in both group and one to one situations.

Pro-active and self-motivated, you should have excellent time and resource management skills and good working knowledge of IT systems and databases. We’d also like you to be able to manage multiple tasks in a fast paced environment and be able to operate with integrity and in a professional manner and appearance, always displaying enthusiasm and motivation.

The ability to speak fluent Welsh is desirable.

A DBS Disclosure will be requested from the successful applicant being offered the position and you will also be required to register with the Education Workforce Council.
